Rail Defect Detection
OKOndt UDS2-77
The UDS2-77 AREMA ultrasonic flaw detector is intended for inspection of  track sections and switches, The detector ensures flaw detection in the entire rail cross section, excluding rail base blades. Complies with AREMA requirements and is available in two versions each with 11 channels: RSU with immersion probe unit design and SL with sliding probe unit design. Includes A-Scan, B-Scan, and A-Scan+B-Scan modes and specialized software for test result analysis and evaluation which can be viewed on the screen of the flaw detector. Designed with light-weight and shock-resistant plastic.
With this type of rail flaw detector we are able to quickly and safely mobilize, and deploy technicians to a designated test site location and provide customers with confirmation of new suspected defects along side verification if defects found by high speed rail testing vehicles.Â
Rail Profile Verification
Miniprof Measuring Devices

The MiniProf systems are high-precision, full-contact profile measuring tools for monitoring and analyzing the cross-sectional profiles of rail tracks, wheels, brakes, switches and crossings. The small, handheld MiniProf devices are fast and easy to use, provides instant results and offers the best accuracy available on the market. The distinguished MiniProf systems are used globally for reliable data collection and basic to advanced post analysis within quality control, safety regulation, research, planning and evaluation of maintenance activities such as rail grinding, rail milling and wheel machining.
With the miniprof measuring device in place we are able to provide customers with a myriad of options with a focus on rail profile verification along with comprehensive track geometry measurements and the ability to compile pre and post data for any work that directly affects the face and profile if rail assets.
Full contact vs. non-contact
Contrary to a full contact measurement, similar non-contact laser-based handheld measurements are made without actual contact to the measured profile. This demands an extremely high level of profile attendance prior to measuring as the laser does not distinguish between the profile and any layers of dirt, oil, grease etc. If the profile is not cleaned thoroughly, a laser-based measurement will reflect the profile surface plus any unremoved layers. Obviously, if the collected data does not reflect the actual profile, it can have critical consequences for following decisions in maintenance, safety and budgets. Do you trust your measurement?
